In a solemn and joyful celebration at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Siby Mathew, HGN, ordained three young men to the transitional diaconate for the Diocese of Aitape.
The ordination Mass was attended by faithful from across the diocese, with many traveling from remote parishes to witness this blessed occasion.
The New Deacons
The three newly ordained deacons have been preparing for this moment through years of formation at the Holy Spirit Seminary in Bomana, Port Moresby.
“Today we give thanks to God for the gift of these three young men who have answered His call to serve the Church in Aitape,” Bishop Siby Mathew said in his homily.
The Bishop reminded the congregation of the importance of supporting vocations through prayer and encouragement of young people to consider religious life.
A Growing Diocese
The Diocese of Aitape continues to see growth in vocations, a sign of the vibrant faith of the local community. Currently, several seminarians are in various stages of formation for the priesthood.
The faithful are encouraged to continue praying for vocations and supporting the formation of future priests and religious.
