Cathedral of the Holy Spirit

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, located in the heart of Aitape town, is the principal church of the Diocese of Aitape. It serves as the seat of Bishop Siby Mathew, HGN, and is the centre of diocesan liturgical celebrations.

History

The Cathedral was established during the early days of missionary activity in the Aitape region. It has been the spiritual home of the Catholic community in Aitape for over a century, serving generations of faithful.
